Lambayeque needs to invest US$ 163 million by 2021 to cover its base station deficit

The Lambayeque region requires the implementation of 1,402 mobile phone base stations in order to improve telecommunication services in this area, according to the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel, for its Spanish acronym). There are currently 586 stations, and missing 816, representing a deficit of 139%. Covering this deficit would be achieved by 88% of traffic and calls to 4G service by 2021, explained Luis Zambrano Cárdenas, head of the Osiptel Deconcentration Office in Lambayeque.

As for fiber optics, the official said that the Dorsal Network arrives in the capital of Chiclayo, Ferreñafe and Lambayeque, and that the regional fiber optic project to connect 309 localities of this region has already been deployed and its services will be commercialized towards the end of year.

Government analyzes partial privatization of Copaco
