General Motors already has 40,000 cars on the street and starts charging for OnStar

Starting today, the free benefits offered with the purchase of the Chevrolet Cruze and other models will be offered under three plans: Exclusive, for US$ 29 per month, with the complete package of connectivity, concierge, navigation, emergency notification, monitoring on routes and diagnosis of the car’s operation; Protect, for US$ 23, without concierge or navigation; and safe, for US$ 17, only with diagnosis, connectivity and basic security functions (the OnStar customer service center does not receive notifications of an accident).

Daniel Serrot, commercial manager of OnStar in Argentina and Brazil, said that since the launch of the service in mid-2016 - with connectivity provided by Personal - more than 200,000 calls were made to the call center; more than 300.00 commands were executed from the app on Smartphones to interact with the vehicle; 68 stolen cars were recovered in an average 45-minute period; and OnStar responded to 54 automatic accident notifications. Although 44% of the cars connected correspond to the Cruze model, with which OnStar was launched in Argentina, the activation of Onix and Prisma cars, with a smaller range, already reaches 10% and 5%, respectively.
