Uber paid US$13.8 million in taxes during first semester

The amount corresponds to taxes as a result of its operations in Colombia where they have 88,000 monthly drivers using the platform, said Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO, adding that they can be an economic engine for the country as generators of part-time jobs. The executive added that they are ready to be regulated as long as they "establish a level playing field in terms of regulations for all transport and mobility providers".

Khosrowshahi said that the mobility business generates US$6 billion a year globally. By 2019, Uber expects to be launching personal el-vehicles such as bicycles and skateboards in the region to mobilize people on shorter journeys and to become in the long term a platform that integrates all public transport services (subways, buses and taxis) ) are in Uber to offer the most efficient route.
