Ursec raised US$ 65 million in the bidding of 2.600 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 1.700-2.100 MHz

The Ursec (Communications Services Regulatory Unit) explained that this amount is divided as follows: Movistar (US$ 28 million), Claro (US$ 15 million) and Antel (US$ 22.5 million).

Claro won two blocks, for US$ 7.5 million each. It is the C09 (1.765-1,770 Mhz and 2,165-2.170 Mhz) and the C10 (1.770-1.775 Mhz and 2.170 – 2.175 Mhz). Meanwhile, Antel obtained four, for US$ 5.6 million each. The detail of the adjudicated in the case of the state company is the following: block PL11 (2.510-2.515 MHz and 2.630 – 2.635 MHz), PL12 (2.515-2.520 MHz and 2.635-2.640 MHz), PL13 (2.520-2.525 MHz and 2.640 -2.645 Mhz) and PL14 (2.525-2.530 Mhz and 2.645-2.650 Mhz). In addition, Antel accessed D05S (1.820-1830 Mhz) and D07S (1.830-1.840 MHz) lots.

Lastly, Movistar was awarded another four portions, at US$ 7 million each. It obtained the PL16 block (2.535-2.540 Mhz and 2.655-2.660 Mhz), the PL17 (2,540-2,545 Mhz and 2,660-2,665 Mhz), the PL18 (2.545-2.550 Mhz and 2,665-2,670 Mhz) and the PL19 (2.550-2.555 Mhz and 2.670-2.675 Mhz). Marcelo Tarakdjian, president of Movistar Uruguay, said in a statement that this investment is added "to the more than US$ 60 million invested in these years."

In the auction there were five unallocated blocks.

Government analyzes partial privatization of Copaco

The state operator is going through a delicate moment. Its income does not cover operating expenses and it must fulfil a debt obligation of US$110 million.
