Government seeks to define the areas and names that will govern in the ICT sector

The new government of President Alberto Fernández adjusts decisions related to the work of ICT. In the Law on Ministries published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, it was determined that Enacom will depend on the Headquarters of the Cabinet whose head, Santiago Cafiero, is currently tuning the attributions of his portfolio and assembling his team. Among other issues is the definition of the directors of Enacom, whose president would be Claudio Ambrosini, who was already on the board, seconded by Gustavo López, with extensive experience in regulatory issues and, above all, broadcasting. There is silence about who will be the other members of the regulatory body on behalf of the Executive and not even those close to Ambrosini say they have knowledge on the matter.

In the National Communications Entity the professionals of the area transferred. For example, some of the plant people of the previous president's team, Silvana Giudici, in Peru 103, went to occupy offices that were left in Peru and Mexico, where until the previous week hosted the Ambrosini team, now moved to the building in Peru 103.

Some people whose names are mentioned as possible government officials or collaborators said they were about to meet with Cafiero and others with Gustavo Béliz.

There are no certainties about names. There is secrecy. Nor is it known what will be the specific structure that will govern the sector and whether the Secretariat of Information and Communication Technologies will continue.

A similar silence exists around a new conduction of Arsat, the state's terrestrial and satellite carrier. Until yesterday, the authorities and directors in charge of the previous management were in their positions without anyone from Fernández's team having been contacted for a transition and transfer process.

It is evaluated that until next Monday there will be no news related to the detail of management for the ICT sector and there could be surprises under the special "The objective of developing an Argentina 4.0 in the framework of digital social justice", which Convergencialatina spread earlier.

Government analyzes partial privatization of Copaco

The state operator is going through a delicate moment. Its income does not cover operating expenses and it must fulfil a debt obligation of US$110 million. Furthermore, the lack of investments led to the obsolescence of its infrastructure. Oscar Stark, president of the firm, states that alternatives are being evaluated to obtain the necessary funds, including the possibility of adding private partners. And he believes that in 18 months "the situation will be resolved."
