President Áñez denounces that Entel was used as a “small box” of the MAS

The economic income generated by the Entel (National Telecommunications Company) - nationalized on May 1, 2008 - was used as the “small box of the MAS (Movement to Socialism)”, which generated economic damage to the State for US$ 246.1 million, revealed yesterday the constitutional president Jeanine Áñez.

The Head of State mentioned that during the management of former President Evo Morales, millions of investments were made in the area of telecommunications, such as the installation of educational telecenters to bring the internet service to rural populations. However, he argued that only 35% of these centers operate today and sporadically, while the remaining 65% do not provide the service for which they were established.

“Bolivia paid for each DPS an average of US$ 27 when in reality it should only pay US$ 3.80. That difference caused the damage of US$ 51 million for the purchase of Internet services,” he said.
