The technology of contact tracking applications with positive coronavirus has appeared in recent times as a useful tool to return to the new normal. However, technology institutions in five European countries criticize them, as they "impose technical standards that represent a false step and a missed opportunity." This was jointly denounced by the Spanish Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas, and her counterparts in Portugal, Italy, Germany and France.
In a letter they stated that "imposing technical standards represents a misstep and a missed opportunity to extend collaboration between governments and the private sector." Among these solutions is the API tool developed by Apple and Google jointly, which allows tracking of nearby cases of coronavirus through the use of Bluetooth, and which since last week countries can incorporate into their applications to work on iOS and Android mobile phones.
