There are 3 fundamental pillars in matters related to security: people, processes and technology. This was one of the main conclusions of the virtual event held yesterday, moderated by Mariana Rodríguez Zani, director of Convergencialatina and Convergencia Research. Jorge Ochoa, manager of Millicom's Global Security Operations Center, emphasized the need to put people at the center of the scene, as the most important asset, which will allow the design of mature processes and the appropriate technology. He stressed that business continuity will depend on the development of the security layer designed from the beginning of the creation of each product or service.
Fidel Aponte, VP Latam & Caribbean of Araxxe, agreed that the pandemic put the protocols of the business continuity plans under test, with risk scenarios that were previously unknown.
Looking to a future with products and services leveraged on 5G network implementations, which will go beyond voice and messaging services, systems must be prepared to deal with the revenue streams that must be protected. In the same vein, Aponte stressed the need to incorporate fraud prevention from the product design.
Coexistence of protocols. For Giovani Henrique, General Director for Latin America at Positive Technologies, there are still about 10 years left for the migration from 3G to 4G networks, which means that the protocols must continue to coexist. In this regard, an attack can start on the 3G or 4G network and reach 5G, putting the privacy of users at risk, among other things.
In view of virtualization and industry 4.0, which will depend on the level of competitiveness of each country, online crime will increase exponentially. Meanwhile, the executive highlighted that the telecommunications sector is the most promising in terms of growth in the next 5 years, above the automotive industry.
