Telefónica will deploy Open RAN in 1,000 mobile sites in Germany

In an interview with Reuters, Mattias Sauder, director of Access and Transport Networks at Telefónica, specified that they will advance with the conversion of the radio to Open RAN: the goal is to equip the sites within 18 months. The Spanish operator recently signed an agreement with Rakuten Mobile and aims to diversify the providers it will work with in Open RAN. Sauder even announced that tests will be carried out with Nokia during 2021.

Government analyzes partial privatization of Copaco

The state operator is going through a delicate moment. Its income does not cover operating expenses and it must fulfil a debt obligation of US$110 million.
