Cooperatives and SMEs take advantage of the shortcut opened by Nextel to ask for spectrum

The technical plan that Catel, Cabase and Catip presented to Enacom includes the direct allocation of regional frequencies at 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 2,600 MHz to constitute the fifth mobile operator. In addition, they are already talking with ZTE, Nokia and Huawei to deploy the network.

The NPlay event organized by Grupo Convergencia at the end of March served as a framework for the chambers of the Telecommunications Cooperatives (Catel, for its Spanish acronym), Argentina of Internet (Cabase, for its Spanish acronym) and Convergent Communications (Catip, for its Spanish acronym)  to present a formal request before the National Communications Entity (Enacom, for its Spanish acronym) so that the cooperatives and SMEs they represent can offer quadruple play. Under the terms of Decree 1340/16, they seek to pay for the use of frequencies in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz or 2600 MHz bands. The objective is to achieve radio spectrum allocation under a regional allocation, sharing and demand scheme. The intention is to start providing mobile services before the end of the year in the different cities where the chambers operate.
