AT&T wants protagonism Telefónica did not manage to get

Spanish company has not found yet the way to the Mexican market. While in Latin America the difference in mobile customers shortened with América Móvil, in the land of Carlos Slim it also has to deal with the advance of the US company.

Between 2010 and 2016, Telefónica's mobile customer base in Latin America grew by 24%, or about 13 percentage points more than America Movil's. In Mexico, on the other hand, it closed the first quarter with drops in revenues and users. AT&T's advance also impacts Telcel, America Movil's local subsidiary, but to a lesser extent.

América Móvil's earnings fell 55% due to peso strength
