E-commerce and Knowledge-Based Services, axes of the impact of the Mercosur-EU agreement in the ICT sector

Argentina and Brazil must adapt their productive sectors to achieve significant increases in their exports. In the case of electronic commerce, this is the first agreement in which Mercosur as a whole assumes commitments and recognizes the need to create a corresponding regulatory framework.

The strategic partnership between the Mercosur and European Union blocs implies the integration of a market of 773 million inhabitants, almost a quarter of the GDP (world's Gross Domestic Product), and more than US$ 100 billion of trade bilateral goods and services. The agreement document provides that more than 90% of the exports of each block obtain tariff benefits in a maximum period of ten years, with few exceptions.

RDNFO: MTC advances with Azteca license unilateral resolution procedure

The MTC decided to initiate the unilateral resolution procedure for the license of the backbone network: it will call a public hearing, which will probably be held in November. If this instance is passed in a favorable manner, six months must elapse until the termination of the agreement, as stated in the RDNFO contract with Azteca, whereby it could only occur in March or April 2021.
