The health system of Paraguay is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. In December 2018, nine hospitals began an experimental phase of digitalization of patient care, the implementation of a medical history and electronic prescriptions and the control of online medication stock. Hugo Tarabini, General Director of Infrastructure and Connectivity of the Mitic (Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies), referred to the experience as the initial kick of the project, which points to the digital transformation of the healthcare system in Paraguay. “Health decided to raise through a decree a strategic ICT plan in its area that will be delivered in September. We will have the entire plan concluded in the year 2023, reaching 480 establishments that will guarantee 61% of the country's patient coverage,” the official told Convergencialatina.
