Shared and electric mobility forces the conversion of Smart Cities business models

Convergencialatina participated in the Smart Cities Expo World Congress event in November. In a work table organized by ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability, the first electric mobility implementations were analyzed. Carsharing and electric skateboards are also part of the new models for smart cities.

Cities occupy a central role in the world economy: according to data from the United Nations Organization (UN, 2018), 55% of the 7.59 billion inhabitants of the planet live in them. That number, projected to 2050, will be 9.7 billion, and 68% will live in urban agglomerations. The mobility challenge of this mass of people was addressed during the conference in Barcelona. The use of the car is resignified, with automakers who changed their business scheme and city councils that propose their citizens to walk more.
