The first discussion panel on the second day of Big Players Map Day, last Friday, had to do with the value of the spectrum and the axes of future tenders in Latin America. Two unknowns that, in the eyes of the operators, will determine the massification or not of broadband access. Mario Girasole, Senior Executive VP of Regulation and Institutional Affairs at TIM Brasil, said that “the debate on 5G extrapolates the simple fight for spectrum. It is an open debate, in which the regulator (referring to Brazil's Anatel) is listening a lot. The idea is that investment is privileged, that the spectrum is considered as an industrial asset, and not a financial one”.
