Two weeks before the February 7 elections, at dawn on Sunday the 21st, the National Electoral Council announced the final results through its official Twitter account. Andrés Arauz from the Unión por la Esperanza alliance maintained his clear victory with 32.72% of the vote, corresponding to 3.033,753 votes. Guillermo Lasso, from the right-wing Creo-Psc coalition, will be the one who will dispute the second round of Arauz, having obtained 19.74%, with 1.830,045 votes. Yaku Pérez, of the Pachakutik party, lost that possibility by just a few points of the percentage, having reached 19.39%, with 1.797,445 votes. On April 11, Ecuador will decide between the progressivism represented by Andrés Arauz, and the neoliberal right that is grouped behind Guillermo Lasso.
Regarding the legislative elections, in which 137 positions in the National Assembly were settled, Unes obtained 32.21% of the votes, followed by Pachakutic, with 16.81% and the Democratic Left, with 11.98%, all three with progressive programs. The rest was distributed between the Social Christian Party, with 9.73%, CREO, with 9.65%, Honestidad, with 3.66%, Alianza PAIS, with 2.77%, and Ecuatoriano Unido, with 2.08%.
For the Andean Parliament, the votes were distributed among UNES, Pachakutik, Izquierda Democrática, Partido Social Cristiano and CREO, in that order.
