Mirgor negotiates with brands to replace LG's production and sustain 200 jobs in Tierra del Fuego

The company manufacturing this equipment in the country acknowledged that the announcement of the Korean company has a negative impact on its business but assured that it is negotiating with other brands to replace the production.

The activity and the launches planned for 2021 as well as the jobs of 200 direct and indirect workers in Tierra del Fuego are guaranteed, sources told Convergencia. Continuity from July will depend on the results of negotiations, officials admitted.

The company for now does not want to reveal with which firms it is negotiating. One clue is that Mirgor also manufactures other LG products in segments such as modems, televisions, infotainment and air conditioning equipment, thus the work will have to be covered by one or more companies.

Mirgor entered LG's manufacturing in October 2020 when it acquired Brighstar for a symbolic price of US$ 1. The package included permission to manufacture the equipment of Samsung, which also manufactures, among other products, cell phones, televisions and air conditioners.

The local company avoided comments on the level of foresight it had when buying Brighstar on LG's decision that was confirmed this week.
