Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile to supply lithium hydroxide to Johnson Matthey

With this supply, Johnson Matthey will produce 500,000 e-car batteries in the next seven years. The Chilean Chemical and Mining Society, one of the world's largest lithium producers, will deliver the material between 2021 and 2028, for the manufacture of batteries at Johnson Matthey's plants in Poland and Finland.

SQM is working on an expansion plan to produce 180,000 and 30,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide, respectively, an expansion that will be carried out with its project to reduce the environmental footprint by reducing to the half brine extraction and water consumption in 2030.
