Entel improved revenues in Q1 due to an increase in mobile business in Chile and Peru

According to the financial results reported to the Financial Market Commission, Entel recorded profits of US$ 24.3 million between January and March this year, meaning a significant improvement compared to the losses of US$ 31.5 million registered in the same period last year. The company attributes this improvement to a higher operating result, of the order of 10%, and lower taxes due to the lower rise in the exchange rate.

In its revenues, there was a 9.28% increase compared to 1Q20, reaching US$ 789 million. This increase was driven by higher mobile revenues in Chile and Peru, in the order of 15% and 7%, respectively, due to fixed services in Chile associated with “Entel Hogar” and revenues from services to other operators, with a 38% growth.

Ebitda increased by US$ 6.8 million between the first three months of each year, going from US$ 242.8 million to US$ 249.7 million, a 3% increase.  Both periods are affected by the sale of towers of the contract signed in December 2019. By excluding the sale of towers in each year, Ebitda shows a US$ 19.9 million increase, from US$ 223.4 million to US$ 243.3 million, adding a 9% increase.
