The ABTA (Brazilian Association of Subscription Television) has presented an ADI (Direct Action of Unconstitutionality) before the Supreme Federal Court, against the decision of the federal Government that obliges subscription TV operators to include the content of local channels anywhere in the country where there is a relay station in their packages, free of charge.
For ABTA, "this new rule serves only to serve the private interests of these content generators and thus finance their expansion at the expense of cable TV distributors, although in reality it is at the expense of consumers who are subscribed to the cable TV service that, most likely, will see that those costs will be transferred to the value of the subscription they pay.”
