The plenary of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE, for its Spanish acronym) approved the application of a fine of US$152.4 million to Claro, Oi and Telefónica, for having formed a consortium that was the awardee in a tender carried out by the Post Office (Correo) in 2015 to connect all its offices, since they consider that this action caused the reduction of competition in that tender.
In addition, it was indicated that these operators promoted discriminatory pricing practices, as, when requested to make local accesses, they made higher price offers than other market participants for terrestrial accesses, at the same speed, and final price proposals by that consortium to the Post Office, which were lower than the price charged by Sencinet, the current name of BT Telecom, for access to the terrestrial connection.
