Telefónica del Perú became the company most fined by the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications, in the last five years, with accumulated sanctions in that period for US$40.5 million.
The fines against Telefónica declared firm by Osiptel, through its General Management, in the first instance, and those confirmed by its Board of Directors, in the second instance, represented 41.71% of the sanctions applied to all operating companies in the last five years, which totaled US$97.5 million.
The fines applied to Claro totaled US$18.6 million, to Entel, US$16.8 million, and to Bitel, US$14 million. These figures, added to the fines accumulated by other operators for US$7.3 million, together represented 58.29% of the total.
As for the year 2022, Osiptel imposed fines declared administratively final for a total of US$22.6 million to the companies that operate fixed and mobile telephony, pay television and Internet services.
Also in 2022, the accumulated amount of fines imposed on Telefónica del Perú was the highest compared to the rest of the operators, totaling US$11.1 million, followed by Entel, with US$4.2 million. Both companies concentrated 68% of the total firm fines. The remaining 32% corresponded to the amounts generated by the fines imposed on Claro, for US$3 million, Bitel, for US$2.3 million, and other companies, for US$1.8 million.
