Netflix has expanded its measures against password sharing to the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and over 100 countries. The streaming service sent emails to its users alerting them that their accounts cannot be freely shared outside their households.
Netflix is seeking new ways to generate revenue as it faces signs of market saturation, including efforts to limit password sharing and a new advertising option.
In the emails, Netflix warns that an account should only be used within one household, and if it is shared outside the household, an additional fee will be required. In the United States, this fee will be US$ 8 per month.
