Claro has filed legal action against Chile’s Treasury, the State Defense Council (Consejo de Defensa del Estado, CDE) and operator WOM. Claro challenged the September 2025 agreement that allowed WOM, despite repeated failures to meet its 5G network deployment obligations, to obtain new deadlines and conditions that were “unprecedentedly favorable,” according to the lawsuit.
The operator argues that the CDE granted special conditions to its competitor that violate public procurement principles. It is therefore seeking to have the contract annulled, as well as compensation and sanctions, on the grounds that it contravenes the basic principles of public procurement.
