On April 11, 18 candidates for the presidency of Peru confronted super fragmented elections. The result was surprising: Pedro Castillo, from Peru Libre, obtained 19.09% of the votes. Keiko Fujimori, from Fuerza Popular, reached 13.36%. Castillo, almost unknown and without a previous political career, did not even appear on the analysts' grid as a possible candidate for the second round. Fujimori, on the other hand, has political history, although not exactly illustrious. The most surprising thing, however, is that the dispute for the presidency of these two candidates in a second round, which will take place next Sunday, June 6, shook the political board until it left for many Peruvians a choice between anti-Fujimorism or anti-leftism.
