Satellite sector prepares for Space models as Service and multi-orbital coexistence

Two trends were installed as the panorama of the satellite industry near future, behind the debates of the Satellite Map Day 2021, organized by Convergencialatina in late June. While the sector gradually turns towards a data-based model, complementary to the traditional broadcast, the Space-as-a-Service models are consolidated.

The schemes known as Space-as-a-Service refer to the provision of services, rather than to purchases related to satellites, earth stations and delivery of proprietary data. The opportunity, in this case, has to do with the creation of a “Cloud” for space, linked to the cloud on Earth for the fluid deployment of new applications.
