The advance in the adoption of Wifi 6 equipment has no turning back at the global and regional level, and the penetration figures confirm this. Added to this reality is the turnaround of Latin American regulators in favor of allocating 1,200 MHz for unlicensed use of Wi-Fi in the 6 GHz band, contrary to requests from the mobile sector and incumbent vendors (Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson) to wait for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) in 2023. Due to this, operators begin to evaluate a 5G and Wifi 6 convergence, in order to include Wifi in the strategy for the next generation, maximizing coverage and capacity. In particular, the 6 GHz spectrum would enable Wifi 6 to support more users and use cases, such as time-sensitive networking (TSN) for industry 4.0 applications.
