Telefónica and Ericsson network slicing test marks new milestone in development of this technology

The Spanish operator and the Swedish provider achieved the dynamic partitioning of radio resources in an end-to-end automated 5G SA network for the simultaneous operation of three use cases of different demands. In addition, it specified definitions for the ecosystem of smartphones with Android 12 and 13 beta.

The network slicing test that Telefónica and Ericsson carried out 15 days ago in a 5G SA network was an important step in defining the concept of dynamic partitioning of radio resources. It is an initiative that various operators and providers, from NTT Docomo and SKK Telecom to Ericsson and Nokia, have been working on for years. The experience of the Spanish operator and the Swedish provider included end-to-end automation.
