The Deep Blue One cable, 2,000 kilometers long, is a Digicel and Orange project to connect French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. It will be operated by Digicel, as owner of the laying, and Orange will have a fiber pair. It is a partnership model, in which the French operator sought diversity for the connectivity provided to French Guiana. In Digicel's case, it has three goals with the Deep Blue One: to support its own operation, in a region where hyperscale players don't typically land with data centers or local zones; allocate additional submarine capacity for the Oil & Gas sector; and guarantee resilience, especially due to the imminent expiry of the supposed useful life of the Americas II, in 2025, which will leave a "gap" in the area.
