FCC's Space Division also embarks on reducing bureaucracy

In line with Donald Trump's second term and the leadership of the FCC, the area dedicated to the satellite industry will also focus on streamlining bureaucracy. Jay Schwartz, director of the Space Office at the US regulator, stated this in a presentation yesterday at the event in Washington.

"In my opinion, the primary function of the FCC's Space Office is to facilitate and accelerate all investments in its industry. If we at the FCC, whether through slow procedures, overly cumbersome regulations, or other issues, are creating an unnecessary regulatory burden, that burden has significant consequences," he warned.

One of the immediate priorities the Space Office will adopt is its licensing system. "It's based on a crazy regulatory philosophy, designed for the ultimate space race. We've opted for red tape, processes, and caution. This results in a multi-year odyssey to obtain a license. We will seek to establish margins of flexibility within which operators can adapt without problems," the officer promised.
