Ufinet and Azteca Comunicaciones await SIC approval for their merger

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) reported that both Ufinet Colombia and Azteca Comunicaciones have requested a pre-evaluation, where Ufinet expresses its interest in acquiring all the shares and assets of Azteca Comunicaciones. The transaction would also include the acquisition of the complete participation and contractual rights of Total Play Telecomunicaciones and TV Azteca in the Unión Temporal Fibra Óptica Colombia (Ufto).

In a statement, the SIC indicated that “the projected transaction will close once all usual conditions are met, including the integration control procedure before the SIC. This approval is a key requirement, as well as the authorization of the contracting party in the Contribution Agreement for the assignment of the contract to Ufinet and/or its related companies.” This was reported by Portafolio.
