This was stated by the Enacom commissioner, Juan Martín Ozores, during his participation in the Latin American Congress of Digital Transformation 2025 (CLTD 2025) in Mexico City. The official welcomed the national government’s decision to eliminate tariffs on the import of cell phones. “It is a positive measure to make devices more affordable. In Argentina, 5G penetration accounts for only 9% of total connections. This new measure will help promote its deployment,” he said.
On another note, Ozores commented that “unused spectrum is spectrum that doesn’t improve people’s lives. As long as it is used properly, it will enable development, technology, and better service quality.”
The regulatory agency is undertaking “a modernization process that will transform how it operates, including, for example, data analytics and artificial intelligence use cases. These aspects are essential to becoming an agile entity with future-proof, efficient management that supports the dynamism of technologies like 5G, IoT and AI,” he explained.
