At  Carriers Map Day 2026, Fernando López, manager of Antel’s Brazilian subsidiary, announced the launch of a new Antel PoP in Madrid, interconnected through increased capacity on the EllaLink submarine cable and additional capacity on the MAREA system.

The new presence in Madrid will enable direct peering and transit agreements in Europe, expanding access to content and optimizing its delivery to customers through EllaLink, the submarine cable with the lowest latency between South America and Europe.

López also said Antel Brasil is working to increase capacity on its main routes after sales in the Brazilian market exceeded expectations. Ongoing initiatives include capacity upgrades on the Monet and Junior submarine cables, backhaul upgrades in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza, and the launch of a new PoP in Fortaleza.

In addition, he highlighted that Antel Brasil continues to develop its infrastructure in Rio Grande do Sul with the launch of a new PoP in Pelotas. The point of presence is integrated into Antel’s infrastructure through a dual-ring route connecting Pelotas, Porto Alegre, Livramento and Jaguarão before returning to Pelotas.
