Padtec’s return to the submarine segment is supported by its acquisition of LEV Brasil, a Portuguese-Brazilian company specializing in submarine engineering and services. The acquisition provides capabilities, licenses and resources to handle different stages of projects, as well as maintenance of existing infrastructure.

Padtec Marine Networks aims to capitalize on its experience in projects such as the Júnior cable, developed for Google, and Amazônia Conectada, as well as its involvement in Telebrás networks and Festoon systems in Brazil.

Alessandra Karine, Padtec’s global sales director, and Pablo Prieto, head of Special Projects, said during Carriers Map Day 2026 that work is already underway on new submarine projects in Latin America, including initiatives in Venezuela and Colombia and connections to the United States. They also said the company could soon announce the first contract of this new phase.

The strategy is complemented by expanding its portfolio beyond traditional optical networks into IP, services and Edge Data Centers. Prieto also highlighted Padtec’s position as a regional manufacturer and linked this capability to the discussion around technological sovereignty: the company designs and manufactures optical equipment in Campinas, Brazil, including transponders with capacities of up to 800 Gbps and 1.2 Tbps, and proposes a model in which operators retain ownership and control of the equipment they purchase without relying on recurring licenses.
