Argentina promotes the development of its third satellite

Another medium and geostationary device is in the plans of the new government. A meeting held yesterday between the state operator Arsat and the technology company INVAP - which built the two satellites that are operational - ended with the announcement that the development for the construction of the third national satellite will begin.

Yesterday's meeting was attended by the new authorities of the satellite operator, Invap, and the officials of the Ministry of Public Innovation. The Arsat 3 would be destined to provide connectivity at low cost in isolated areas of the Argentine geography and the statement does not explain if it will be in Ka band, as was the 2013 plan. The current deployment of the satellite broadband service was also analyzed in hard to reach homes located in the northern part of the Andes mountain range and various mission definition alternatives for the next second generation satellite.
