Salvadoran government promises to unlock the delivery of radio spectrum

The Salvadoran government is analyzing renewing radio spectrum and new concessions. The Technical Secretary, Roberto Lorenzana said that they are working to not paralyze investments in the country. He was speaking after signing the contract for number portability with Imcard and Mediafon.

In May 2014, the Constitutional Chamber complied with an injunction that halted concessions, and in 2013 Siget had suspended a tender for 40 MHz of spectrum twice.

In turn, Lorenzana acknowledged that there are challenges for the transition to DTT. Initially, the digital switchover in the country is scheduled for 2018.
