Futurecom 2016 - BRFibra looks for partners to join Paragauy with Arica in an alternative exit towards submarine cables

The company, which has a 25,000 kilometers laying in Brazil, began talks with companies such as Copaco, Tigo, Ufinet and Cable & Wireless, to to draw a network from Itaipu dam through Arica in Chile. "Although the network design has not yet been defined, we thinkt that it could link Ciudad del Este to Asuncion, go through Bolivia and Arequipa in Peru. Operators we spoke with, are interested in alternative routes because current networks going through Argentina have assurance problems due to the geographical topology of the country. In this way, they would have exit to the Pacific submarine cables", said Eduardo Gomes Lites, Business Director of BR Fibra.

In Brazil, the company has focused on Brazilian operators, global carriers and OTTs vertical. In addition, a new vertical for satellite operators is being created, to provide terrestrial infrastructure services, for example, by connecting teleports. The latest expansion of its network consisted of a a laying of over 600 kilometers between Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, in a project that had a cost of US$2 million.
