The Chambers of telecommunications and Internet cooperatives -Catel, Cabase and Catip- confirmed to Convergencialatina that they’ve submitted notes to Enacom to pay for use of frequencies in a low band of 900 MHz or 700 MHz- so that the proposed investment is 100% aimed at improving the service of coverage areas. They argued that it is difficult for them to go to a previous bid because they have no money since the disbursements will be for infrastructure and antennas.
The regulator had been asked to resolve this demand even after the fourth operator entered, so the chamber are now preparing the project to officially present it. The order is backed by Decree 1340 Article 4 which allows Enacom to deliver licenses directly.
"We are closing the technological partner, that is why we travelled to MWC Barcelona," they said, and warned that cooperatives and SMEs will not survive without mobility.
