Judge Richard Leon decided in Washington that the agreement for around US$85 billion does not contravene US competition laws. Donald Trump government can still appeal the measure.
AT&T issued a statement affirming that it will work to close the agreement before June 20. The general counsel of the operator,David McAtee, expressed AT&T satisfaction for the decision of the judge and commented that the company looks forward to offering users "more accessible, mobile and innovative video entertainment".
AT&T had advanced plans to launch a new OTT video package with Time Warner channels. It would cost around US$15 per month, although customers with unlimited data plans would have access without additional charge.
