What's Next in the Smart Cities Field: PoE Lighting

POE (Power over Ethernet) connected lighting systems are one of the trends to look towards the future, pointed out Javier Ouret, Regional Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean of Transition, and Juan Pablo Bizantino, Account Executive for Latin America and the Caribbean of the company. In the field of citizen security and IOT for ISPs, PoE ++ LED luminaires powered by Transition switches have been installed, generating savings in consumption. Each sector can be illuminated by the presence of people, to which are added other functionalities such as curtain management and the use of AI for the centralized management of lights and intensity regulation.

“Not only can buildings be illuminated with IoT, but it can be extended outdoors, for use in municipalities or gated communities. Everything is solved with data cabling and not with an electrical system,” expressed Ouret.
