The elected president, Gabriel Boric, announced his work team and presented his ministerial cabinet for his term that begins on March 11. In his team, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications will be Juan Carlos Muñoz Abogabir. Munoz, 51, is a civil engineer from the Catholic University of Chile, has a master's degree in industrial engineering and operational research, as well as a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California. Like other appointed ministers, he has more of a technical profile and does not belong to the political spectrum, although he has previously advised the same ministry on public transport regulation issues. In addition, he has been part of the directories of the Santiago and Valparaíso subways.
Up to now, he worked as a professor in the Department of Transportation and Logistics Engineering at UC and director of the Institute for Sustainable Development, from where he has conducted research related to public transportation, traffic, logistics, and the influence of transportation in the city.
It is expected that today will reveal the name of the next Undersecretary of Telecommunications, along with those of the other undersecretaries.
