NPlay Southern Cone 2023

Horacio Martínez: "A new competition has appeared, the satellites in low orbit"

The CEO of Grupo Datco warned in NPlay Southern Cone 2023 that the industry is going through a "foggy" moment, in which "nothing can be seen", also in tune with the international context. "We are an industry that, due to the chaotic way we set up our system, we've managed to overcome the pandemic and we are doing well in Internet delivery, "he said.

The specific problem of the current situation is the approval of SIRAs to unblock imports. Therefore, other trends such as the metaverse "do not keep me awake at night".

Martínez shared the Carriers and Sapems panel with Daniel Chucaladakis, General Manager of Agencia Conectividad Córdoba. The entity's goal is to reach the provincial population without Internet access, under a wholesale model. "We are looking for new ISPs to develop. IP transit values are independent of volume and geographic location," he said.

Sergio Gramajo, Telecommunications Manager of Ecom Chaco, also participated and mentioned the IoT prototype developments of the northern Sapem. They are already working on data processing at the Edge thanks to this equipment. In a few weeks, they will present an electric energy prototype on LoRa.
