DirecTV is taking its first steps as a fiber optic provider in Chile by announcing the name of its fiber optic internet service, which will be called "DFIBRA." The company will begin offering its internet plans in Chile, following the same model as in Peru, Argentina, and Ecuador.
DFIBRA will initially cover six regions, making it available to around 800,000 households, which estimates to approximately 2.5 million people. The company aims to expand its availability throughout Chile by the end of the year.
To provide this service, DFibra has partnered with the infrastructure provider ON*NETFIBRA, which has already deployed its network in 15 regions across the country, from Arica to Porvenir.
Customers will have the option to contract the internet service separately or bundle it with their TV service.
