Telecommunications industry commits to US$ 9 billion in investments

The announcement was made by the Secretary-General of the ITU, Doreen Bogdan-Martin. It involves investment commitments from mobile operator groups to expand global connectivity, focusing on Africa and Asia. In this way, they raise the total value of planned investment in infrastructure and services through the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition to over US$46 billion since the platform was launched in March 2022.

"Thanks to these new commitments, millions of people will benefit from accessible and affordable connectivity worldwide," Bogdan-Martin stated at the MWC. The ITU has called for a total investment of US$100 trillion by 2026 to provide the experience and resources needed to extend universal connectivity and sustainable digital transformation to all corners of the world.
