After the agreements with Starlink, Embratel is actively seeking new partnerships with MEO and LEO satellite fleet operators, stated Lincoln Oliveira, General Director of Satellites at Embratel.
"We are closely studying the market; the satellite business is evolving. We are exploring the best way to meet the new demands of our markets, for example, with D2D solutions", he pointed out.
Oliveira emphasized, "there are significant challenges. Therefore, we have not yet made a final decision on the type of satellite we should specifically launch for this type of service."
He assured that the company is "also exploring partnerships with MEO and LEO operators. We are studying the best solution for our customers".
Regarding the agreement with Starlink, Oliveira highlighted that they view SpaceX's company "simultaneously as a competitor and as a partner". He explained that Embratel uses Starlink's signal to provide access to specific locations, such as health clinics in indigenous communities in Brazil and similar areas not covered by their own satellites, especially in the Ka band, and where there are limitations in terminal capacities.
