Movistar deploys Tarapacá Fiber Optic network, which will connect more than 325,000 people.

Movistar Chile, together with the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications and the Regional Government of Tarapacá, continue with the deployment of the Tarapacá Fiber Optic Backbone Network (FOT, for its Spanish acronym), which will connect 15 towns in the region.

With an investment of more than US$5.2 million from the National Regional Development Fund, the FOT already has nearly 500 kilometers of fiber optic cable deployed, of the 850 kilometers planned.

Movistar also announced that between Monday, May 5, and Friday, June 6, 2025, fiber optic cable laying work will be carried out on Route 1 in the city of Iquique, from the Diego Aracena International Airport to the municipality of Iquique.
