Cities with updated antenna laws concentrate 85% of 5G stations

Brazilian cities that have updated their local antenna laws account for 85% of all 5G stations installed in the country, while municipalities with outdated regulations hold only 15%.

This disparity is also reflected in infrastructure density: areas with legislation aligned with the General Antenna Law have, on average, 77 5G antennas. In contrast, those without updated regulations average just 7.5 antennas — nearly a tenfold difference.

This scenario was highlighted during a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 13, at Anatel’s headquarters in Brasília, marking the milestone of 1,000 municipalities with updated antenna laws. These municipalities represent 57% of Brazil’s population and are leading the expansion of mobile networks, directly impacting 5G coverage and quality.
