Public consultation to simplify TV service regulations

The Ministry of ICT has published for comments the draft resolution through which the provisions contained in the general regulations issued by the now-defunct National Television Commission (CNTV) and the National Television Authority (ANTV) will be compiled and simplified, in accordance with the responsibilities assigned to the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies.

The purpose of the draft resolution is to provide clarity regarding the current regulations applicable to television services under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of ICT, pursuant to the provisions of Law 1978 of 2019, and which have not been compiled in other regulations.

The objectives of this draft are to establish a consolidated and simplified regulatory framework for television that facilitates its consultation and updating; to identify the current general regulations issued by the now-defunct CNTV and ANTV regarding television; to compile the existing regulations on television that, according to the distribution of responsibilities established by Law 1978 of 2019, fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies; and to simplify outdated television-related regulations that are subject to compilation.
