Amazon to launch satellite internet in South America with a US$ 10 billion investment

Amazon Leo is the brand under which it will begin offering its service in 2026 in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay.

Sky handles commercialization in Brazil, and DirecTV does so in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Uruguay. Both companies belong to the Werthein Group.

Once the process begins, in the middle of next year, it will gradually expand from the south toward the equator, in line with the deployment of the constellation launched by Amazon, which will reach 3,236 satellites positioned about 630 kilometers above the Earth’s surface after more than eighty launches.

The system integrates satellites, ground stations, and compact user terminals, aiming to serve residential and business customers, with an investment reaching US$10 billion.
