José Antonio Kast elected Chilean president with 58% of the vote

With a platform focused on combating insecurity, controlling immigration, and proposing fiscal adjustments, the right-wing Republican Party candidate won the runoff against leftist Jeannette Jara, who received 41% of the vote. This is the third time Kast has run for the presidency of Chile, and he is set to take office on March 11, 2026.
